Rob was recommended to me by a mutual friend. He has been amazing helping my stepson with his GCSE maths. Incredibly patient and knowledgeable, Rob has spent time understanding where the weaknesses were and given appropriate methods and insight into problem solving. Highly recommend.

Started having 1hr lessons once a week in January 2022 as my GCSE predicated grade had dropped to a 3. I took my maths GCSE in May and got a grade 5. This was thanks to Rob for taking that extra time to explain things and giving me the confidence to know ‘ I could do it’!! Would highly recommend him to anyone who is struggling.

You can expect;

  • 1-hour sessions.
  • Face-to-face tutoring with tons of anecdotes and analogies to contextualise knowledge.
  • Teaching how to problem solve; how to get unstuck.
  • Tips and show where students often make mistakes.
  • Teaching a personable, confident attitude.
  • I really care.

“It’s nice to have ideas explained in a different way and then I just get it and feel so happy.”

“Seeing it applied to real-world problems puts it in context for me and I can visualise it so much better.”

“I get to ask questions and then we discuss it with drawings and then I know why it works that way.”

I have been a fully qualified teacher for 20 years, teaching primary, secondary and A’ level. I am also DBS background checked (CRB).

How do you gauge quality tuition?

Many places offer tuition, then sit students in front of computer screens and get them to do tasks repeatedly, answering multiple-choice questions.

This sounds like detention to me, and sure if you repeat tasks for 80 minutes plus homework you will improve BUT is that improvement proportional to the time and effort spent?

1-to-1 tutoring sessions can be a mix of discussing problems from class, preparing for what’s coming up, in class, helping with homework, practising for exams.
